The driver’s-side outer door handle on every E31 eventually fails: BMW cast the original pivot in pot metal, and once it cracks the door can no longer be opened from outside. The pivot was never sold separately and the complete handle is long discontinued. This is the latest and final version of the replacement — machined from high-grade steel that far outlasts both the factory pot-metal part and the earlier aluminium reproductions that broke at the welds.
It arrives as a full kit: the steel pivot with a pre-installed nylon bushing, a plug-and-play pin, and a self-locking nut. Fitment is direct, with no cutting or modification to the handle.
